Framing our supply chain disruption as a Problem is backwards. Don’t waste breath hollering about the complicated worldwide production disruption caused by a crazy pandemic. Just Make Do With What You Have. While the kinky supply chain works out its orientation: Just Make Do.
Don’t Darwin Award the planet.
Citizens of United Earth, let us calmly pull together during this period of weird shortages and unwelcome price increases. Let us put on a sunny smile and Just Make Do With Less. Life is good with less stuff!
Are we suffering while slightly short of stuff? Use the common sense. Marie Kondo earns her living tossing out people’s excess stuff. If you are one first-world fat cat wallowing in Scrooge Duckish piles of stuff —don’t lose sleep over low inventory. Just Make Do With What You’ve Got.
NOW TODAY we can use these ‘supply chain shortages’ as a great excuse to downsize the human experiment. We have enough—and we have had enough. Enough of the fear treadmill presented by media hammering home “endless tragedy” that magnifies the dark side of events. Doom and gloom get more clicks. But looking on the bright side betters your wellbeing. Make do with less with a smile!
So Freaking What, if the pandemic makes less crap available to buy this year. Is the sky falling? Nuts. The heckadoo it is. Let us agree, my friends, agree to reframe temporary shortage as a good and great opportunity.
A chance to right-size our priorities.
Planetary climate going down the tubes?
Emissions choking planetary air?
Salmon runs down to a walk in the great planetary oceans?
If you like Salmon - if you like air - if you like your kids even a little bit - then kindly ratchet down grumpy attitudes, kindly uptick the tempo on cheery attitudes, and Just stop consuming like a locust.
It really does not hurt.
“Frugal is fine,” our Pandemic Teacher writes.
“Frugal is good.” Welcome the hidden gifts in the supply chain shortages. Forget about the scanty shelves in box store aisles. Give a great big welcome to the liberation of enjoying what you already have.
Too much is enough.
Don’t Darwin Award the Planet, earthlings.
NEXT: These people are literally downsizing the human species.
